Thank you for your interest in Boost The Mind tutoring. Let me introduce myself.  I am Nasima Ali, and I am the author of the QASS series and senior educator and CEO at Boost The Mind. Let's get acquainted.

Teaching has always been my passion. I cannot remember a time that I did not want to be an educator. Passing on knowledge is in my blood. My great grandfather founded the first school in his village. My grandfather surpassed his father and became the principal of a high school. My parents, siblings, cousins, uncles and aunts all teach. It's the family business!

My mission is to benefit all students who would like to further themselves. Whether it is to do well on a standardized test, or to ace a class, your goal is our goal. 

So let me tell you about my journey to become an educator.

Science and Math
My high school graduation included the International Baccalaureate Full diploma. Studies at the University of Maryland College Park were completed as a four-year Maryland Distinguished Scholar, graduating with a B.S. in Physiology/ Neurobiology with Honors.  While waitlisted at Wayne State University Medical School, I earned a Master's in Cancer Biology, and was a Thomas Rumble Fellow for two years.

Teaching full-time since 2008, I now have 36 education credits and I am certified to teach Secondary Biology by the State of Maryland. 

My one-on-one tutoring experience ranges from elementary students, to middle schoolers, all the way to college graduate students. In classrooms, I have taught Astronomy, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry at various grade levels. I have helped over 100 Science Fair projects come to completion. Finally, I'm honored to have prepared college students and adults for the MCAT/GRE/PRAXIS and GED.

Reading and Study Skills
My lifelong journey into reading and writing started with writing stories for my younger siblings. In high school, a twenty page thesis paper was required for the IB program. Also, I scored 710 on my SAT Reading. 

My GRE, MCAT, and PRAXIS scores in Reading skills were similarly high. My own technical writing skills were strengthened during years of reading scientific literature, writing my own papers, and writing papers for other scientists.

I continue to write in my ongoing education classes and as a freelancer. As for reading, I always have a pile of books by my bedside, science fiction, of course! My children are avid readers too.
